Celebrating CMU DHA Alumni Scholarship: Dr. Philip Eappen and Dr. Ruiling Guo Advance Explainable AI in Healthcare

The CMU Doctor of Health Administration Alumni Student Network (DHA ASN) is proud to recognize and congratulate two of our distinguished DHA alumni, Dr. Philip Eappen, DHA, CHE (Cohort 2017) and Dr. Ruiling Guo, DHA, MPH, MLIS, AHIP (Cohort 2011), on the publication of Enhancing Healthcare Informatics with Transparent and Explainable AI, now officially published by Routledge, Taylor & Francis Group.

As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly integrated into clinical decision support and healthcare operations, the need for transparent, interpretable, ethical, and explainable AI has never been more important. This timely publication brings together international perspectives on how healthcare organizations can advance the use of Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) while maintaining the trust and understanding of the healthcare professionals who rely on these technologies.

Dr. Eappen brings expertise in healthcare administration, health informatics, and clinical leadership integration, while Dr. Guo contributes extensive knowledge in health policy, health administration, nursing informatics, and public health systems.

They are part of an accomplished international editorial team representing Canada, the United States, Europe, and Australia, demonstrating the value of global collaboration in addressing the opportunities and challenges presented by emerging healthcare technologies.
