🎉 Congratulations to Dr. James A. Johnson on his retirement and appointment as Professor Emeritus

The Central Michigan University Doctor of Health Administration Alumni Student Network proudly congratulates Dr. James A. Johnson on his retirement and on being granted the distinguished rank of Professor Emeritus, effective August 1, 2026.

This well-deserved honor recognizes Dr. Johnson’s more than 24 years of dedicated service to Central Michigan University and his extraordinary commitment to the School of Health Sciences. Through his teaching, mentorship, scholarship, and leadership, he has contributed to the academic and professional success of hundreds of students—many of whom continue to benefit from his guidance and example.

A distinguished medical social scientist and global health scholar, Dr. Johnson has authored more than 100 journal articles and numerous books, worked in more than 35 countries, and collaborated with leading national and international organizations. His contributions to international health systems, organizational development, public health, and systems thinking have made a lasting impact at CMU and throughout the global healthcare community.

Dr. Johnson’s influence extends far beyond the classroom. He has inspired generations of students and healthcare leaders to think globally, lead purposefully, and use their knowledge in service to others.

The ASN community extends its heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Johnson on his retirement and deepest appreciation for his exceptional service, leadership, mentorship, and enduring contributions to Central Michigan University and the DHA Program.
