Sara Boykni, Cohort 2024, recently presented her qualitative research at Central Michigan University—a meaningful milestone in her doctoral journey.

Her study, Between Crisis and Cost: Public Accounts of Emergency Healthcare Billing, explored how individuals describe their experiences with emergency medical bills using publicly available narratives. What emerged most prominently was the consistency in how patients characterized these encounters: complex, unpredictable, and financially overwhelming.
