DHA Alumni Student Network: Call for Nominations for AUPHA’s Teaching Excellence Awards

Dear DHA Alumni,

The DHA Alumni Student Network is pleased to invite nominations for the AUPHA Teaching Excellence Awards. These prestigious awards recognize outstanding faculty from AUPHA member programs who have demonstrated exceptional contributions to teaching at the undergraduate,master's, or doctoral levels.

Established in 2021, the awards honor faculty who actively engage with AUPHA and exemplify excellence in health administration and policy education, inspiring and advancing fellow educators within AUPHA and beyond.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for nomination, candidates must meet the following criteria:

✅ Faculty Appointment: The nominee must hold a formal faculty appointment in an AUPHA Full or Associate Member Program and serve as the instructor of record for at least one course in the nominated discipline.

✅ Teaching Experience: A minimum of five years of teaching experience in health administration and policy is required (with no more than one year counted from teaching as a graduate student).

✅ Active Faculty Role: The nominee must be actively teaching in the academic year

they are nominated.

✅ Past Awardees: Individuals may not be nominated in a category they have already received recognition.

✅ Engagement with AUPHA: Nominees must be active members of AUPHA for at least one year, with demonstrated engagement through activities such as: 

• Attendance at AUPHA's Annual Meeting, Academic Program and Practitioner Workshop, or HIMSS Academic Forum

• Participation in Art of Teaching Institute courses (preference for those completing the Certificate for Teaching in Healthcare Management)

• Membership and active participation in Faculty Forums or AUPHA Network discussion groups related to the award category

• Service through roles on the AUPHA Board of Directors, committees, or contributions to AUPHA resources (e.g., BOK & CG, Practitioner Scholar Guide)

We encourage DHA alumni to self-nominate, and the Alumni Student Network is committed to supporting you throughout the nomination process. Our team will assist in gathering the necessary materials and ensuring a strong submission. Help us recognize your excellence in teaching and leadership within our community!
